Every time you open a window on Linux, you're using 40-year-old code that survived corporate wars, licensing battles, and countless attempts to replace it. This is the untold story of Xorg - how four programmers freed X11 from corporate control, why it still powers the world's most critical systems, and why even in 2025, when everyone talks about Wayland, Xorg refuses to die. From MIT labs to Wall Street trading floors, discover the secrets of the invisible architect of the digital age.

@ivlis.w
Context: Wayland decided they won't define a primary monitor, and that you shouldn't need one either, so you better hope your game opens in the right one this time

@frontrider3240
They wanted an example on "what needs it", Factorio developer Raiguard chipped in with an actual bug report from a user and got rejected with "you don't get to speak for your users".

@michaelbarr8151
If "Wayland works well as dseigned", then maybe the design is to blame ... 🙂
